“The Flock” is displayed on the façade wall of the DeltAteliers, the former school building, situated on the side of a large open playground, the place for past time and relaxation of the neighborhood, located between Den Haag two main train stations: Den Haag Centraal Station and Den Haag Hollands Spoor, in close proximity to the canals. Foot traffic includes local residents, workers, tourists, passersby, ferry riders, joggers, bikers and etc.
The mural allows the general public to experience a work of art in situ and beautifies the neighborhood, which undergoes major transformation. The artwork is site specific, evokes the rich history of Den Haag, where gulls are integral part of the tableau. The project is also geared to increase visibility of the art center located in the school building. The artwork is respectful to the status of the building: it will enhance its wall without overpowering the original architectural façade.
